BAR REFAELI – MOST SEXIEST ISRAEL MODEL

Bar Refaeli was born on June 4, 1985, in a rural region of Israel. She was raised on a horse ranch, but her countryside origins never inhibited her imagination. She started modeling before she could even walk and talk. At eight months old, Bar was already doing commercials. After starting her career before she was even a 1-year-old, Bar had to undergo that traumatic experience that every child fears: getting braces. Of course, getting braces quickly derailed her modeling career. So for over three years, Bar resorted back to her normal life — a life void of modeling. But when the braces came off in 1997, Bar wasted no time getting right back into the industry. At the tender age of 11, she bursted back onto the modeling scene and has been there ever since.

She then appeared in numerous advertisements and infomercials in Israel. Bar’s rise to prominence seemed to happen overnight. At the age of 15, Bar began to modeling for catalogs such as Castro and Pilpel. Her undeniable good looks made her an automatic interest for most international magazines and covers. The turn of the century marked a sign of good things to come for the Israeli vixen. In 2000, she won the title of “Model of the Year” in a beauty contest, and in 2001, she won her title yet again, as her beauty and modeling talents couldn’t be denied. In 2002 and 2003, she was chosen to be the home model of the Renuar fashion network. Additionally, Bar was selected for an international fashion production and appeared in the French ELLE magazine.

It was during her rise to prominence that she attained gigs with GQ and Ralph Lauren. However, Bar claimed that it was the editorial section in an issue of ELLE France that laid claim to her celebrity. The editorial section attached her name with the face that so many people were becoming accustomed to seeing, and once her name was attached, a celebrity was born. Bar ended up doing photo shoots with Sports Illustrated magazine and Victoria’s Secret. She was the first ever Israeli to be featured in SI. Her career has essentially grown right in front of our eyes; she has developed a sense of how to work in front of a camera, and photographers are beginning to like working with her more and more. She says that working with photographers is “a cooperation between the model and the photographers.” Bar has lives the ife of a glamorous, international supermodel. She graced cover after cover and has worked with the most major brands in the world. In early 2007, Bar landed more work with SI, and signed a deal with Chanel’s makeup brands. Her romantic link with award-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio speaks mounds for her popularity.

Bar appeared in a September 2007 Paris-Match issue where she was interviewed by reporter Caroline Mangez. The six-page article had many pictures and a great interesting interview about Bar’s life in Israel, her family and her work. She also appeared on the cover of Tatler magazine for the October 2007 issue.

EVA MENDES – SEXY CUBAN-AMERICAN STAR

Eva Mendes was born on March 5, 1974 in Miami, Florida, U.S. She is an American actress who became famous after playing in movies like 2 Fast 2 Furious, Hitch, Training Day, Ghost Rider and We Own the Night. She was born in Miami, Florida (although many sources incorrectly state her birthplace is Houston, Texas) to Cuban parents, and was raised in Los Angeles. Eva Mendes went to Hoover High School in Glendale, California. Eva Mendes later attended California State University, Northridge but dropped out to seek an acting career.

She captured the attention of moviegoers in a small, but pivotal role in the critically acclaimed film, “Training Day”. Since then, Mendes has proved she is adept in both comedic and dramatic roles. In a very short time, she has had the fortunate and unique opportunity to work with such esteemed directors as Carl Franklin, Robert Rodriguez, Antoine Fuqua, the Farrelly Bros. and John Singleton, therefore earning the reputation as a serious actress who is committed to her craft.

Eva Mendes’ first serious role came when she was cast as Denzel Washington’s girlfriend in the box office success, “Training Day,” for director Antoine Fuqua. Her portrayal led to the celebrated director, Carl Franklin, hiring Eva Mendes for the MGM feature “Out of Time,” once more starring opposite Denzel Washington. In the same year, Eva Mendes appeared in “Once Upon A Time in Mexico” opposite Johnny Depp. She has also starred in the action blockbuster “2 Fast 2 Furious as well as the comedy feature film, “All About the Benjamins” starring opposite Ice Cube. Eva Mendes most recently starred opposite Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear in the Farrelly Bros. comedy, “Stuck on You.”

She is also an international spokesperson for Revlon Cosmetics. Following in the elite footsteps of such beautiful women as Halle Berry, Cindy Crawford and Julianne Moore, Mendes currently appears in Revlon’s print and television advertising campaigns. Eva Mendes is also an active participant and ardent supporter in Revlon’s commitment in the fight against breast cancer. Eva Mendes, who is Cuban-American, was born in Miami and raised in Los Angeles. It was while Mendes was in college that she began her acting career.

Eva Mendes began to study with the respected acting coach Ivana Chubbuck and soon thereafter, Eva Mendes’ desire to appear on the big screen, became a reality. As she continues to grow as an actress, Eva Mendes strives to develop her skills by learning from legendary filmmakers such as Federico Fellini and Michelangelo Antonioni and contemporaries like Pedro Almodovar, Spike Jonze and Steven Soderbergh. She has been in a long-term relationship with Peruvian filmmaker George Gargurevich. Eva Mendes has denied press reports linking her other actors, including Joaquin Phoenix and Stuck On You co-star Matt Damon.

AVRIL LAVIGNE – THE CANADIAN POP PUNK SINGER

Avril Lavigne (full name Avril Lavigne Whibley) was born on September 27, 1984 in Belleville, Ontar io, Canada. She is a Canadian pop punk singer/songwriter and actress who is well known for her “skater punk” persona. Her two albums to date, Let Go (2002) and Under My Skin (2004), have topped the charts in numerous countries. Although her name is of French origin, she herself does not speak French and her name is pronounced in an anglicized way, more or less as “La-veen”. Her first name, Avril, means “April” in French and is pronounced “Av-reel” (anglicized “Ahv-ril”).

Born in Belleville, Ontario to conservative Franco-Ontarian Christian parents John and Judy Lavigne, Avril Lavigne grew up in Napanee; having moved there at the age of five. It was in Napanee that she sang country music and in a church choir and taught herself to play guitar.

She was discovered by her first professional manager, Cliff Fabri, while singing country covers at a Chapters bookstore in Kingston, Ontario. During a performance with the Lennox Community Theatre, Avril was spotted by Steve Medd, a local folksinger, who invited her to perform vocals on his song Touch The Sky for his 1999 album Quinte Spirit. Suitably impressed, he invited her back to perform vocals on Temple Of Life and Two Rivers for his followup album, My Window To You in 2000.

By the age of sixteen, Avril Lavigne was signed by Ken Krongard, the artists-and-repertoire (A&R) representative of Arista Records, who invited his boss, Arista head Antonio “L.A.” Reid, to hear her sing in a New York City studio. She then completed work on her first album. Apparently, early attempts to co-write songs for her failed to meet her approval; and Lavigne eventually moved to Los Angeles, California, and co-wrote her album with Clif Magness and the songwriting team The Matrix, whose previous work included songs for Sheena Easton and Christina Aguilera.

She described her first album, Let Go, as a pop album with “a couple of rock songs on it”, and has indicated a desire to write more rock-oriented songs in the future. It was released by Arista on June 4, 2002 in the United States, reaching number two there and number one in Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom (making Lavigne the youngest female solo act ever at the time to have a number-one album in the UK).

It was certified four times platinum less than six months later by the RIAA, and had sold fifteen million copies worldwide as of December 2004. Four singles from the album were released, all of them hits. “Complicated” went to number one in Australia while reaching number two on the U.S. Hot 100, and was also one of the best-selling Canadian singles of 2002. “Sk8er Boi” reached the top ten in the U.S. and Australia and number one in Canada, “I’m With You” reached the top five in the U.S., while “Losing Grip” reached number one in Canada, the top ten in Taiwan, and the top twenty in Chile.

The media have often compared Lavigne to Alanis Morissette (one of her favourite artists alongside Coldplay and The Goo Goo Dolls), who is also Canadian, as well as singer-songwriters such as Vanessa Carlton and Michelle Branch, who emerged at about the same time and were popularly credited, with Lavigne, as part of a trend towards more genuine creativity in the teen pop-music market. She was named “Best New Artist” at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards, won four Juno Awards in 2003 (out of six nominations), a World Music Award for World’s Best-Selling Canadian Singer, and was nominated for eight Grammy Awards. 2004 “the present Lavigne’s second album, Under My Skin, was released on May 25, 2004 in the U.S. and went to number one in several countries, including the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia.

She wrote most of the album with Canadian singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk, though some tracks were co-written by Lavigne and Ben Moody (formerly of Evanescence), Butch Walker of Marvelous 3, and the rest with her former lead guitarist Evan Taubenfeld. Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace Kreviazuk’s husband, co-produced the album with Butch Walker and Don Gilmore. Lead single “Don’t Tell Me” went to number one in Argentina, top five in the U.K. and Canada, and top ten in Australia and Brasil. “My Happy Ending” reached the top ten in the U.S., and was her third biggest hit to date there, but third single “Nobody’s Home” did not make the top forty.

The final single from the album, “He Wasn’t”, reached number one in Canada, making the song her eighth number-one release since “Complicated”, but failed to make the UK top twenty and was not released in the U.S. Lavigne won two World Music Awards in 2004 for World’s Best Pop/Rock Artist and World’s Best Selling Canadian Artist. She received five Juno Award nominations in 2005, picking up three including, Fan Choice Award, Artist of the Year and Pop Album of the Year. She also won the award for Favourite Female Singer at the eighteenth Annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Lavigne co-wrote a song, “Breakaway”, which was recorded by Kelly Clarkson for the soundtrack to the film The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004) and was later included on Clarkson’s second album, Breakaway, being released as the album’s first single. It went on to peak at #6 in the US and provided Clarkson with a substantial hit. One source reports that Lavigne will release a new album some time in the spring of 2006.

In January 2006, Avril Lavigne signed a contract with Ford Models. Avril Lavigne is appearing on the February edition of Harpers Bazaar Fashion Magazine with a new look. Avril Lavigne will sing at the closing ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics (Turin, Italy) for the eight minutes of the Vancouver 2010 portion. Her third album is supposed to be released during the middle of 2006. It should include collaborations with Chantal Kreviazuk and her husband, Our Lady Peace front man Raine Maida, who have also worked on 2004’s ‘Under My Skin’ Lavigne’s current band consists of the following: Devin Bronson (lead guitar), Craig Wood (rhythm guitar), Charlie Moniz (bass) and Matt Brann (drums).

Departed members from Lavigne’s band consist of the following: Evan Taubenfeld (lead guitar, 2002 2004), Mark Spicoluk (bass, 2002) and Jesse Colburn (rhythm guitar, 2002 2003). In 2003, it was reported that Lavigne was romantically involved with Colburn. Lavigne is engaged to be married to Deryck Whibley of the pop punk band Sum 41, and Mark Spicoluk was a former member of that band. She formerly traveled with a bag full of about thirty neck ties. Some of them she bought, and the rest of them she took from her father and some were sent to her by fanmail. Avril Lavigne stopped wearing neckties completely in 2003, as she was horrified at the constant media references to them overshadowing her music and that she was starting a fashion trend amongst her fans.

She has a star tattooed on the inside of her left wrist, applied at the same time as friend and musical associate Ben Moody’s identical tattoo. In late 2004, Avril Lavigne had a small pink heart-shaped tattoo featuring the letter ‘D’ applied to her right wrist ” thought to be a reference to fiance Deryck Whibley. Avril Lavigne has also bought a house with him in Beverly Hills. In March 2004, she became involved in a celebrity feud with Hilary Duff: Duff reportedly criticized Lavigne after she apparently got mad at her fans for dressing like her. Duff called her “mean-spirited” and said: “You should be happy that these people like you and look up to you.” During an interview for a Boston radio station, Avril Lavigne then said that Duff was a “mommy’s girl” and a “goody two-shoes”.

Avril Lavigne then said to Duff (who was not present during that interview), “You can go screw yourself”. Reportedly, Lavigne also said about Duff, “I’m sure she’s really nice and sweet. I’m sure she’s all smiles.” During that same interview, she spotted a picture of herself and ripped it up, allegedly saying, “I hate that fucking photo!” All this happened while on air. According to Lavigne, she had permission to take the picture down ” station personnel encouraged her to take it down. Avril Lavigne has admitted to Rollingstone.com that she got into some fights one night. “The other night, I got into three fights”, says Lavigne. “I was at a club and some girl was giving me attitude. Avril Lavigne pushed me and I got her down on the floor. Security came, and because I was on top, they threw me out.” A profile of Lavigne in The Washington Post found that, in the flesh, her personality did not reflect her marketing, and instead found her to be, if anything, something of a wide-eyed innocent, citing her intending to purchase her first Ramones CD. In another interview, she listed her current listening tastes as including blink-182, Sum 41, Green Day and System of a Down.

Avril Lavigne is a vegetarian. Some members of the old school, hardcore punk community have an intense dislike for Lavigne and her style of music, which they believe waters down what punk is really all about. Comments Avril Lavigne has made, showing a lack of knowledge/interest in the seventies punk movement and the luminaries of that movement (Avril Lavigne once admitted to not ever having heard of the Sex Pistols), has led some to label her a poser. However, Avril Lavigne has consistently stated that her music is not punk rock and that she does not believe she is punk. Although it’s constantly debated whether or not Avril Lavigne is punk, there have been several (and more recent) occasions where she has stated “I’m not punk, that’s a whole other world. If anything I’m more rock or pop.” Avril Lavigne has made it to the list of FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World for three consecutive years, from 2003 to 2005. She was also included in Maxim Hot 100 for 2003 and 2005 at 92nd and 36th spots respectively.

PARIS HILTON – THE PRINCESS

Paris Whitney Hilton was born in February 17, 1981, to Rick and Kathy Hilton, making her the great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, founder of the Hilton hotels and source of the family fortune – estimated at $300 million. Paris Hilton’s grandfather, Conrad “Nicky” Hilton, Jr., also brought some notoriety to the family, as he was the first of Elizabeth Taylor’s many ex-husbands.

Paris Hilton’s younger sister, Nicky (born in 1983), shares the throne as co-heiress of the Hilton empire. Paris Hilton grew up in Manhattan’s ritzy Waldorf-Astoria, the family’s New York home, as well as other Hilton digs in Beverly Hills and the Hamptons, Paris .Even after graduating from high school, college didn’t appeal to her. So, around the year 2000, Paris Hilton decided to branch out and become famous.

Paris Hilton began to make a name for herself as a model, soon appearing in shows for designers such as Marc Bouwer and Catherine Malandrino, and she later completed an ad campaign for Iceberg, an Italian label. In addition, Paris Hilton has posed for spreads in national magazines such as GQ, Vanity Fair and FHM, and has also been profiled, along with her sister, in People magazine.

Paris Hilton, along with her younger sister Nicky, also became notorious as socialites, gracing party after party and getting bad press for their antics. For example, Paris Hilton has grabbed headlines by shoving ahead of others in a washroom line, then, when upbraided for her rudeness, quipped that she only wanted to look at herself in the mirror.Paris Hilton has also danced on top of bar banquettes, gone topless for attention, and paraded around in designer T-shirts with slogans like, “Got Blow?” Yet Paris maintains that the bad press “sucks” and that “people are mean.”

On top of her burgeoning acting career, Paris Hilton has designed a high-end collection of purses for Tokyo label Samantha Thavasa, along with her sister Nicky. Paris Hilton has also given back; she has done charity work for Toys for Tots. Unfortunately, her attempts to start a modeling company and a makeup line seem to have fizzled.

Paris Hilton has also grabbed headlines thanks to a makeout session with notorious lesbian, Ingrid Casares, and a sex tape starring Paris and ex Rick Solomon that was released on the Net, and of course, spread like wildfire.

MADONNA – THE SEXY ENTERTAINER

Madonna was born on 16 August 1958 in Michigan. Her full name was Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone. Madonna married Guy Ritchie, having divorced Sean Penn. However, in October 2008 Madonna and Guy Ritchie announced that were getting divorced. She has a huge IQ and reportedly enjoys chess. Madonna won a dance scholarship to Michigan University, but dropped out and went to New York. Madonna struggled for a while in various dance troupes and bands, and was briefly a backing vocalist/dancer to French disco star Patrick Hernandez.

Madonna’s debut album, titled Madonna, was released in 1983, and although it sold 3 million copies it was with her next album, Like a Virgin that she made most impact. Her music continued to be a critical and commercial success and in the past 20 years, Madonna has sold more than 250m records. Some people argue that Madonna lulled in the early part of the 2000s but there was no disputing that 2005 was a good year for Madonna (barring a horse-riding accident). Her Live 8 performance was highly regarded as was her album, Confessions on a Dancefloor, produced by Stuart Price, which contained the Number 1 single ‘Hung Up’. Madonna has been a hugely successful singer, but she is a woman of many talents. Her photo-book, Sex was a great commercial success although panned by many critics.

Madonna has also appeared in a variety of films including Desperately Seeking Susan (1985), In Bed with Madonna (1991) and Evita (1996). Up until recently Madonna ran the record company Maverick, which (after a dispute) she sold to Warner Music. Madonna has recently written several children’s stories. Pundits have frequently referred to her successful branding and dubbed her a chameleon. Some compliment her for this, and others criticise her. Madonna has two children: Lourdes, fathered by personal trainer Carlos Leon, and Rocco with Guy Ritchie. Madonna can nowadays also be referred to as Esther.

As Madonna puts it: “I don’t go by the name of Esther, but yes, that is my Hebrew name. I chose it.” In an interview with ABC’s 20/20 Madonna said: “I was named after my mother. My mother died when she was very young. I wanted to attach myself to another name. So I read about all the women in the old testament and I love the story of Queen Esther.” Madonna came 8th in the Forbes list of the most powerful celebrities 2005. In February 2008, Filth and Wisdom, which was the first film directed by Madonna, was released. Meanwhile Madonna’s music continued to prove popular. In May 2008, Madonna had her tenth number one album in the UK with Hard Candy.AWARDS2009

PENELOPE CRUZ – THE SEXY SPANISH ACTRESS

Penelope Cruz ( full name Penelope Cruz Sanches ) was born on April the 28th 1974. The eldest daughter of a hairdresser and an auto mechanic, growing up in Madrid, Spain, Penelope Cruz didn’t want the normal pretty pony or a pretty stud, she instead dreamed of swans and nutcrackers and handsome princes! She further studied classical ballet at the National Conservatory for nine years.

Penelope Cruz worked steadily in Spanish cinema from her 1991 debut in El Laberinto Griego (Greek Labyrinth), for the next seven years. Cruz also made a brief and forgettable trip to the American shores, and accepted a role in a 1993 telepic, Framed, featuring Timothy Dalton. And then in Belle Epoque, which won a 1994 foreign film Oscar. She then played what she deemed “the u gly woman” in Live Flesh and in Mother (1999), in which Cruz depicted a nun impregnated by a transvestite. Penelope Cruz filmed La Nina de Tus Ojos (The Girl of Your Dreams), a role that would earn her a 1999 Best Actress Goya. She also appeared in the Hollywood feature, The Hi-Lo Country, with Woody Harrelson and Billy Crudup.

She ran right out and completely spent all of her first official Tinseltown paycheck. Unlike any starlet, however, she donated those earnings to Mother Theresa’s children’s sanctuary in Calcutta, India, where she had briefly volunteered.

Penelope Cruz’s physical beauty secured her next upcoming major motion picture outing, as Johnny Depp’s drug-addicted wife, in Blow (2001). Penelope Cruz spent the beginning of the new millennium in Greece as Nicolas Cage and Christian Bale vie for her affections in Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. Meanwhile, her name has been paired with the other world-famous Cruise (Tom, but of course) to complete director-screenwriter Cameron Crowe’s next pic, Vanilla Sky.FILMOGRAPHY

PAMELA ANDERSON – THE SEXY BOMBSHELL

Pamela Anderson was born on July 1, 1967 to a working class family in British Columbia. After high school, she worked as a fitness instructor until she was “discovered” at a Canadian football game. Anderson, wearing a form-fitting Labatt’s tee shirt, was broadcast over the stadium’s giant screen. She was then hired by Labatt’s to appear in their advertisements. An offer from Playboy soon followed. She would go on to appear in five more issues of the magazine.

Anderson parleyed her modeling success into a series of bit parts on television programs. She got her first big break in 1991 as the “Tool Time Girl” on the sitcom Home Improvement. While there, she attracted the attention of casting agents from Baywatch, who were looking to replace Erika Elaniak, the shows then-current blonde bombshell. The hour-long show portraying the lives of Malibu lifeguards was a nearly plotless vehicle for semi-nude video montages and the critics panned it accordingly. However, fueled by frequent shots of the voluptuous Anderson, the show became the highest rated program worldwide.

Anderson’s television success did not transfer well to the big screen. Despite mass publicity, including an appearance by Anderson at the Cannes Film Festival clad in a skintight cat suit, her first effort, Barb Wire, was both a critical and commercial failure. Anderson returned to television as the executive producer and star of V.I.P, in which she plays the owner of a bodyguard agency staffed exclusively by models. The series remains a success in syndication. Anderson’s 1995 marriage to Motley Crue rocker Tommy Lee captured persistent media attention. They couple had two children, Brandon Thomas and Dylan Jagger. However, the marriage was continually fraught with controversy,
including an incident in which stolen honeymoon tapes of the couple having sex were broadcast over the Internet.

The marriage ended in divorce in 1998 after Lee was arrested and convicted for spousal abuse. In March of 2002, Anderson went public with the news that she has hepatitis-C. She claimed she contracted the disease by sharing a tattoo needle with Lee. The personal tragedy failed to derail Anderson’s year-long romance with rapper Kid Rock (a.k.a. Robert Ritchie). The two married on July 29, 2006, on a yacht near St. Tropez France. In November 2006, it was announced that Anderson miscarried. A few weeks later, she filed for divorce from Kid Rock, citing irreconcilable differences. That same month, Anderson made headlines when she appeared in the mockumentary hit, Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan starring British comedian, Sacha Baron Cohen. In the film, Anderson played herself in what appeared to be a real-life botched kidnapping. Audiences debated whether or not the appearance was planned or a surprise. Anderson refused to comment, but told MTV that Cohen was “such a nice guy.” The film was nominated for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.

Anderson announced she was engaged to socialite Rick Salomon. The couple married in October of that year, but they filed for divorce shortly after, on December 14th. Two days later, the exes were seen shopping together, and Anderson announced that the two were working on their relationship. Their truce, however, was brief: In March of 2008, after only nine weeks of marriage, the couple officially annuled their union citing issues of fraud. Anderson is currently starring in her own television series, Pam: Girl on the Loose which debuted in August of 2008. She also starred in two more comedy films that year, Blonde and Blonder and Superhero Movie. Her newest project, Hollywood & Wine is slated for release in 2009. Off-screen, the life-long vegetarian is also an outspoken advocate for PETA, protesting the use of fur and the hunting of seals. Most recently, she auctioned off a 2000 Viper sports car that appeared in Pam: Girl on the Loose to support the nonprofit organization.
