MAHATMA GANDHI – INVENTOR OF AHIMSA

Born as Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi in Porbandar in Gujarat on 2nd October 1869.He was a prominent political and spiritual leader of India. He was married to Kasturba in childhood. He has 4 sons. And he was the one leading India through Freedom Struggle.He united all Indians for Freedom Struggle.He finished his Baristor in London. He was the one who mainly involved in Indian Independence Movement, Sathyagraha and more. He was famous throughout the world because of his non-violent approach in obtaining freedom to India called the AHIMSA.As he played a main role in Indian Independence, he had been named as the Father of the Nation.Of all his contributions to India in obtaining Independence from the British, he was assassinated by Nathuram Godse on January 30, 1948.He was 78 when he died.

    i appreciate your brief description. Personally, i am quite familiar with Gandhi and his works; he is one of my idols. But i find it very sad that many people i talk to have no idea who he is. It was not 60 years ago that he revolutionized an entire country non-violently, something my country cannot manage to do. His words were and are very inspirational to those of us who often feel so overwhelmed by the hatred and gore that the media engrains in our minds. I just with that more people were taught about what this great man accomplished.

    Gandhi is one of my personal heroes and his teachings need to be resurrected. I did a report on him in school many years ago. On 14th Street in Union Sq. Park is a nice statue of him walking with a cane. Peace!
