Eva Mendes was born on March 5, 1974 in Miami, Florida, U.S. She is an American actress who became famous after playing in movies like 2 Fast 2 Furious, Hitch, Training Day, Ghost Rider and We Own the Night. She was born in Miami, Florida (although many sources incorrectly state her birthplace is Houston, Texas) to Cuban parents, and was raised in Los Angeles. Eva Mendes went to Hoover High School in Glendale, California. Eva Mendes later attended California State University, Northridge but dropped out to seek an acting career.
She captured the attention of moviegoers in a small, but pivotal role in the critically acclaimed film, “Training Day”. Since then, Mendes has proved she is adept in both comedic and dramatic roles. In a very short time, she has had the fortunate and unique opportunity to work with such esteemed directors as Carl Franklin, Robert Rodriguez, Antoine Fuqua, the Farrelly Bros. and John Singleton, therefore earning the reputation as a serious actress who is committed to her craft.
Eva Mendes’ first serious role came when she was cast as Denzel Washington’s girlfriend in the box office success, “Training Day,” for director Antoine Fuqua. Her portrayal led to the celebrated director, Carl Franklin, hiring Eva Mendes for the MGM feature “Out of Time,” once more starring opposite Denzel Washington. In the same year, Eva Mendes appeared in “Once Upon A Time in Mexico” opposite Johnny Depp. She has also starred in the action blockbuster “2 Fast 2 Furious as well as the comedy feature film, “All About the Benjamins” starring opposite Ice Cube. Eva Mendes most recently starred opposite Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear in the Farrelly Bros. comedy, “Stuck on You.”
She is also an international spokesperson for Revlon Cosmetics. Following in the elite footsteps of such beautiful women as Halle Berry, Cindy Crawford and Julianne Moore, Mendes currently appears in Revlon’s print and television advertising campaigns. Eva Mendes is also an active participant and ardent supporter in Revlon’s commitment in the fight against breast cancer. Eva Mendes, who is Cuban-American, was born in Miami and raised in Los Angeles. It was while Mendes was in college that she began her acting career.
Eva Mendes began to study with the respected acting coach Ivana Chubbuck and soon thereafter, Eva Mendes’ desire to appear on the big screen, became a reality. As she continues to grow as an actress, Eva Mendes strives to develop her skills by learning from legendary filmmakers such as Federico Fellini and Michelangelo Antonioni and contemporaries like Pedro Almodovar, Spike Jonze and Steven Soderbergh. She has been in a long-term relationship with Peruvian filmmaker George Gargurevich. Eva Mendes has denied press reports linking her other actors, including Joaquin Phoenix and Stuck On You co-star Matt Damon.

MARILYN MONROE – HOLLYWOOD’S MOST FAMOUS BLONDE

Marilyn Monroe, whose name was Norma Jean Baker in childhood, was born to Gladys Mortenson, a film technician, whose husband, Edward Mortenson, deserted the family. Norma Jean’s natural father may have actually been another studio employee, C. Stanley Gifford. Gladys’ mental illness surfaced shortly after her daughter’s birth, and she was institutionalized much of Norma Jean’s growing years. Norma Jean was placed in a series of twelve foster homes, and once in an orphanage. She attended Van Nuys High School in Los Angeles, California.
At sixteen, Norma Jean escaped the foster system by marrying 20-year-old James Dougherty. A year later, in 1943, he joined the U.S. Merchant Marine. Norma Jean took a job in an airline plant, part of the World War II factory effort, and worked first as a parachute inspector, then as a paint sprayer. When the government came through to take promotional photographs of the women working in the plant, the brunette Norma Jean learned that she photographed well, took a modeling course, and began working part-time as a photographer’s model.
Success as a photographer’s model led her to her dream of becoming an actress. In 1946, she divorced Dougherty and bleached her hair to become a blond. She signed a one-year, $125/month contract with Twentieth Century-Fox on August 26, 1946. Ben Lyon, casting director, suggested that she take the name Marilyn, and she added her grandmother’s last name, Monroe.
Marilyn Monroe played one bit part that year, all of which ended up on the cutting room floor. The next year, she signed another one-year contract, this time with Columbia. The results weren’t any better. In 1950, Marilyn Monroe posed for full-length nude shots, which the photographer Tom Kelley sold for a calendar. That same year, she appeared in a bit part in The Asphalt Jungle, and though her name wasn’t even mentioned in the credits, her appearance generated a huge amount of fan mail. Her reputation as a blond bombshell had begun to be established.
So Twentieth Century-Fox signed Marilyn Monroe to a new contract — this time, for seven years. She appeared in All About Eve. In 1946, she had her first starring role, in Niagara. In Gentlemen Prefer Blondes she sang, and for the first time, she had her own dressing room. In January, 1954, Marilyn Monroe married the famous baseball player, Joe Di Maggio. The marriage was short-lived; they divorced in October. For the 1955 movie The Seven Year Itch, Marilyn Monroe appeared in the famous photographic stunt, in a white halter dress, with her skirt blown up by a draft from a sidewalk grate, leaning down to catch her dress so that her cleavage showed. The photograph was used to advertise the film, and has become one of the iconic images of Marilyn Monroe.
But after filming The Seven Year Itch, in which she plays a prototypical “dumb blond,” Marilyn Monroe decided to work more seriously on her acting skills, to the skepticism of many critics. She broke her movie contract, and moved to New York to study at the Actors Studio with Lee Strasberg for a year. In 1955, she founded her own company with Milton Greene, Marilyn Monroe Productions, and signed a new contract with Twentieth Century-Fox. She made the 1956 movie Bus Stop which wowed the critics, but she’d begun to lose herself to self-doubt, depression, drugs, and alcohol. Marilyn Monroe, whose mother and maternal grandparents had all struggled with mental illness and institutionalization, began taking sleeping pills for her insomnia. She regularly consulted psychiatrists. She drank heavily, and began a habit of arriving late to work, and sometimes not being able to work at all.
She married Arthur Miller, the playwright, shortly after Bus Stop was released, and for the marriage converted to Judaism. She lived quietly for two years with her new husband. During that time, Miller was fighting his conviction for contempt-of-Congress for refusing to answer two questions before the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC). The marriage, and several miscarriages, added to her self-doubt and depression, and to her use of drugs and alcohol. Marilyn Monroe’s next movie, The Prince and the Showgirl, brought mixed reviews. That was followed by Let’s Make Love, and an unhappy romantic liaison with co-star Yves Montand.
The Misfits was written for Marilyn Monroe by her husband, Arthur Miller. She performed well in the final product, though during its filming, she was often under the influence of alcohol and pills, and she was notoriously late to the set. Marilyn was affected by the death, two months after the film was completed, by co-star Clark Gable. In early 1961, Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller divorced. During this period, she was also bothered by many rumors of affairs, including with the President, John F. Kennedy, and his brother, Robert F. Kennedy. Filming her next project, ironically titled Something’s Got to Give, Marilyn’s lateness and addictions led to her dismissal after a month. She was briefly committed to a mental hospital. She was approved to return to the film, but never resumed filming.
Two months later, in her home in Los Angeles, Marilyn Monroe was found by her housekeeper, dead, with an empty bottle of sleeping pills next to her body. The coroner found the death was caused by an overdose of barbiturates, and pronounced it a possible suicide. No evidence of foul play was presented to the coroner. Marilyn Monroe’s funeral was planned by Joe Di Maggio; Lee Strasburg delivered the eulogy.

MADONNA – THE SEXY ENTERTAINER

Madonna was born on 16 August 1958 in Michigan. Her full name was Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone. Madonna married Guy Ritchie, having divorced Sean Penn. However, in October 2008 Madonna and Guy Ritchie announced that were getting divorced. She has a huge IQ and reportedly enjoys chess. Madonna won a dance scholarship to Michigan University, but dropped out and went to New York. Madonna struggled for a while in various dance troupes and bands, and was briefly a backing vocalist/dancer to French disco star Patrick Hernandez.
Madonna’s debut album, titled Madonna, was released in 1983, and although it sold 3 million copies it was with her next album, Like a Virgin that she made most impact. Her music continued to be a critical and commercial success and in the past 20 years, Madonna has sold more than 250m records. Some people argue that Madonna lulled in the early part of the 2000s but there was no disputing that 2005 was a good year for Madonna (barring a horse-riding accident). Her Live 8 performance was highly regarded as was her album, Confessions on a Dancefloor, produced by Stuart Price, which contained the Number 1 single ‘Hung Up’. Madonna has been a hugely successful singer, but she is a woman of many talents. Her photo-book, Sex was a great commercial success although panned by many critics.
Madonna has also appeared in a variety of films including Desperately Seeking Susan (1985), In Bed with Madonna (1991) and Evita (1996). Up until recently Madonna ran the record company Maverick, which (after a dispute) she sold to Warner Music. Madonna has recently written several children’s stories. Pundits have frequently referred to her successful branding and dubbed her a chameleon. Some compliment her for this, and others criticise her. Madonna has two children: Lourdes, fathered by personal trainer Carlos Leon, and Rocco with Guy Ritchie. Madonna can nowadays also be referred to as Esther.
As Madonna puts it: “I don’t go by the name of Esther, but yes, that is my Hebrew name. I chose it.” In an interview with ABC’s 20/20 Madonna said: “I was named after my mother. My mother died when she was very young. I wanted to attach myself to another name. So I read about all the women in the old testament and I love the story of Queen Esther.” Madonna came 8th in the Forbes list of the most powerful celebrities 2005. In February 2008, Filth and Wisdom, which was the first film directed by Madonna, was released. Meanwhile Madonna’s music continued to prove popular. In May 2008, Madonna had her tenth number one album in the UK with Hard Candy.AWARDS2009

American singer and actress. Born Beyoncé Giselle Knowles on September 4, 1981, in Houston, Texas, she began singing with the original members of the popular R&B group Destiny’s Child — LaToya Luckett, Kelly Rowland and LaTavia Roberson — as a pre-teen.
The girls went through various incarnations, singing a mix of gospel, rhythm and blues, and hip hop, before they officially became Destiny’s Child in 1995. Knowles’ father, Mathew, served as manager of the group. After performing in the Houston area, the group appeared on Star Search, the popular television talent competition.
Although they did not win the competition, a contract with Columbia Records soon followed. Their first release, Destiny’s Child (1997), was a tremendous success in Europe. Upon the album’s release, the group kicked off a tour of sold-out shows there. Their second effort, The Writing’s on the Wall (1999), brought them wider acclaim back home. The album generated three top-ten hits on the Billboard R&B singles chart.
In 2000, despite internal conflicts that resulted in the departure of Luckett and Roberson from the group, Destiny’s Child continued to promote their sophomore effort, playing as a supporting act for Christina Aguilera’s summer tour. In 2001, still calling themselves Destiny’s Child, the group released their third album, Survivor.
In 2004, after launching a successful solo career with Dangerously in Love, Knowles won five Grammy Awards, tying a record for most wins by a female artist. Her second solo effort, B’Day, was released in September 2006 to coincide with the singer’s twenty-fifth birthday. In its first week, B’Day sold more than 540,000 copies in the U.S.
Beyoncé Knowles has also made a start in acting, making her debut in MTV’s Hip Hopera: Carmen in 2001 and co-starring as Foxxy Cleopatra in Mike Myers’ James Bond parody Goldmember in 2002. Other films include 2004′s The Fighting Temptations and 2006′s The Pink Panther.
Her starring role as Deena Jones, a Diana Ross-like character in the big-screen adaptation of the 1981 Broadway hit musical Dreamgirls earned a Golden Globe nomination in 2006. Beyoncé’s song “Listen” was nominated for an Academy Award.
Knowles’ was romantically linked to hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, since September 2002. They performed together in music videos for two of her hit singles, Crazy in Love and Deja Vu. The couple married in April 2008. Among the guests sighted at the wedding were Beyonce’s mother Tina Knowles, her father and manager Mathew, her sister Solange, Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, and friend Gwyneth Paltrow.

A few months later, Jessica Alba appeared in two episodes of “Beverly Hills 90210″, as Leanne. And finally, she appeared in an episode of “Love Boat: The Next Wave.” In 1999 she appeared a huge number of magazines. Jessica Alba had a small role in Never Been Kissed which was released in the Spring. A month later Jessica Alba could be found with a larger role in Idle Hands. Her two performances in those movies started a buzz in the entertainment industry. Many more magazines would come knocking on her door. Shortly after the release of those two movies, Jessica Alba landed the starring role in Paranoia. Jessica Alba finished filming Paranoia in June. The movie is in post-production now.
Shortly later Jessica Alba started working on what will potentially be her biggest work ever. Jessica Alba auditioned for the leading role in Dark Angel. Jessica Alba caught the eye of James Cameron and will now star in the post anticipated TV show of 2000, Dark Angel. With the huge success of Dark Angel and its legion of fans, Jessica will no longer be a rising star, she will be among the hollywood elite, a star.
She made a comeback in 2003 with the title role in Honey. In 2005 Jessica Alba appeared opposite Bruce Willis in the movie “Sin City”, the down-and-dirty feature-film version of Frank Miller’s popular graphic novels. Alba played Nancy, a stripper with a tortured past who’s about as close to innocence as it gets in a grisly black-and-white world.

Emmanuelle Chriqui was born on December 10th, 1977 in the Canadian city of Montreal. The Chriqui (pronounced shree-kee) family is Moroccan and Emmanuelle has both an older sister and an older brother. They moved to Toronto when Emmanuelle was about 6 years old and this is where she grew up. When she was 9, she realized that acting was something she wanted to do more than anything else. Her parents couldn’t afford acting lessons for their youngest daughter but Serge, her older brother who was 18 at the time, dipped into his own pockets and paid for the classes himself. With her family’s unshakable support, a 10-year-old Emmanuelle began her acting career in a McDonald’s commercial, with a dancing cheeseburger on her sweatshirt. More commercials followed but she had yet to be a superstar. After a few years, Chriqui relocated to Vancouver and began auditioning for TV shows. Supporting herself by working as a waitress — a flexible job that let her make her own schedule — she landed guest-starring roles in the mid-’90s, in Canadian series such as Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Forever Knight, Kung Fu, Once a Thief, and Psi Factor. Then came a succession of TV movies that allowed her to receive more exposure, including Harrison Bergeron (1995) with Christopher Plummer and Sean Astin, Unwed Father (1997), Principal Takes a Holiday (1998) with Kevin Nealon, and Futuresport (1998) with Wesley Snipes and Vanessa Williams. With these projects under her belt, Chriqui was ready for meatier parts. Hollywood came calling and she was offered a supporting role in Detroit Rock City (1999), the story of four teenage boys who try to attend a KISS concert. Even though her screen time was limited, it served as a stepping stone and her next movie, Snow Day (2000), put her on the map. In this Nickelodeon production, Emmanuelle portrayed Claire Bonner, the most popular girl in school. Once again, her name wasn’t on the marquee but she left an impression and even starred in the Hoku music video for “Another Dumb Blonde” (from the Snow Day soundtrack).Emmanuelle’s next projects were the horror thriller Ricky 6 (2000) and the little-seen teen sex comedy, 100 Girls (2000). In the latter, she played Patty, a promiscuous artsy girl who turns out to be the most three-dimensional character in the film, having a more significant part than anticipated. Just when things started picking up for the raven-haired actress, she got the chance of a lifetime and was selected to appear in the Steven Spielberg science-fiction epic, Artificial Intelligence: AI. Chriqui was on the set for three days in the summer of 2000, but unfortunately her scene wound up on the cutting room floor. The same fate awaited her later that summer when she participated in the shooting of Todd Solondz’s Storytelling, with Selma Blair. Still making her way up the Hollywood hierarchy, she won the coveted female lead in On the Line (2001), also known as the ‘N Sync movie because it starred group members Lance Bass and Joey Fatone. She wasn’t very knowledgeable about the band but got to hang out with them for a month before shooting and built chemistry with the boys. In the process, she made a lot of teenage girls jealous. Chriqui’s next role came two years later when she appeared alongside Eliza Dushku as Carly, a girl who is stalked by cannibals in Wrong Turn (2003). Currently living in L.A. and New York City, she has just finished shooting the fourth installment of the popular The Crow series, called The Crow: Wicked Prayer, which stars Edward Furlong, Tara Reid and Dennis Hopper; it’s scheduled for release in 2004.
